As part of Universal Packaging’s line of fulfillment services, we offer in-depth testing on a variety of products. These tests allow us to work with potential clients to prove the reliability and performance of our line against their current product. As part of our recent testing, we are excited to present the below results from one of our recent tests.
The Challenge
Notoriously, freezer conditions are challenging for even the most heavy-duty tape. Common adhesive tapes will become dry or brittle quickly in cold conditions or may fail to stick at all. These freezer specific tape failures can cause frustrating waste or compromise projects.
Recently a major ice cream company came to us looking for a more effective, longer lasting adhesive to secure their packaging. Their goal was to reduce damage and breakage as a result of their current tape becoming brittle from freezer conditions. This would allow them safer transport and storage of their product.
Testing and Results:
A 1″ x 1″ sample of the tape was applied to the outer portion of craft corrugated box samples supplied by the customer. A 1kg weight was connected to the samples in a modified ASMD 3654 test. Both 3M 311 Acrylic Packaging Tape and the IncrediSeal™ AT3028 were left hanging after 10,000+ minutes. The freezer remained stable at -47° Fahrenheit, replicating conditions of the product.
The conditions inside the test were expected to mirror those of the customer’s standard operations.
Conclusion:
At the conclusion of the 10,000+ minute test, the IncrediSeal™ tape held with no breakage and/or damage. In conditions of -47° Fahrenheit IncrediSeal™ tape proves it’s strength and value as a way to save cost and protect your product.
